Proud Parent Moment

The kids finally went back to school Wed-Fri this week with delayed opening each day. It was a bit trying to get buses down the ice packed streets in some neighborhoods but everyone eventually got there and home again. The kids were excited to be back in school with their friends. The sun is shinning bright today and the temps are supposed to get into the 40's. I am hoping to find our shrubs by the end of the weekend.

Report cards also finally came home this week..a bit delayed because of closed schools. Once again Kurt and I were so proud of our kids. Ryan's teacher wrote "Ryan is a strong student. He is an avid reader and seems to love books. He does a great job preparing for assignments and completing work on time." Ryan's reading is 'AGL' (above grade level)! Way to go Ryan! Thanks G-Ma Julie for all the words of encouragement and sharing your love of books. Ryan's excellent grades reflect his hard work and dedication.

Madelyn continues to do great in school also. "She is an amazing writer" her teacher writes. "She does a great job organizing her writing with a good opening sentence, detail sentences and a closing sentence." She is rarely far from a notebook and pencil. She writes us stories and letters often. She is a strong reader and we enjoy having her read to us now. She and Ryan often sit down to read together. This is probably the only time our house is quiet during daylight hours.

We are off to our first day of lacrosse. Todays assessments will determine team placement. Ryan is very excited to try out his new lacrosse stick.

Melt Snow Melt!

Well our snowcation continues. No School, AGAIN! Since February 1st the kids have gone to school two (yes, that is 2!) days. There is an open invitation for anyone who would like to visit. Please come prepared with boots (JoAnn!), hat, gloves, (Mom's like hats and gloves on!) and a shovel to help dig out the bus stops and sidewalks.

Madelyn asked the other day if we were going to be able to make it to the Taylor Swift concert. We assured her we would. Then she asked if there would still be snow on her birthday. Humm, good question. (Let I remind you her birthday is in June.)

Although we have had lots of fun during this 'unscheduled' time off it is time to let the sun shine, temps rise and kids go back to school. Spring break is right around the corner, right?
