Pictures did not capture all the beauty in the State Park. The girls hiked about a mile and decided that was far enough. It was back to camp for an afternoon nap for them.

For the long July 4th weekend we were off to Watkins Glen, NY with our friends Mark, Lisa, Ethan and Samantha McIntosh (yes, together again for the second weekend trip in a row). Aunt Connie drove from MA to meet us. Everyone enjoyed camping in the Watkins Glen State Park (although we could have done without the daddy long-legged spiders), hiking through the gorge, fireworks over Lake Senaca and family time together. The smores the kids made were the best. And therefore we had them every night. The girls played Barbie and Princesses in the 'girls only' tent and had Aunt Connie read bedtime stories. The boys had a great time passing the football, chasing each other or Aunt Connie and soon realized they were going to survive the weekend with no Nintendo DS. The weekend centered around the IndyCar race at the Watkins Glen Speedway where we watched qualifying, got autographs and pictures with our favorite drivers and cheered on our teams. Madelyn will never forget meeting Danica Patrick and having the Indy officials present her with a Danica banner to bring home.
